The Influence of the Crusades on European Military Architecture - to the End of the
XIIth Century
Lawrence's BA thesis (1910) published as Crusader Castles (first
published 1936). Best edition: Oxford, Clarendon Press, 1988 (contains additional material by Lawrence
found in no other edition, and an introduction and notes by D. Pringle).

Seven Pillars of Wisdom
'Oxford text' (1920-2), 334,600 words. Eight proof copies of this draft were printed for Lawrence in 1922 by
the Oxford Times printing works. The text contains important material
omitted from the final abridged version. It was first published by Castle Hill Press in
1997, using a 'best text' edited by Jeremy Wilson from both the manuscript and
Lawrence's corrected copy of the 'Oxford
Times' proof.
Abridged subscribers' revision (privately printed 1926, first published for general
circulation 1935), 250,600 words. Best published edition: London, Jonathan Cape,
1973 (this contains passages omitted
from earlier trade editions, while retaining the dates in the page headlines which were
omitted from later Cape printings).
