Holds the papers of Nancy Astor, including her correspondence with T. E.
Lawrence, and the archives of Jonathan Cape Ltd, Lawrence's British publisher, relating
to the publication of his books. Very little of the firm's
correspondence with T. E. Lawrence is held at Reading, since almost all of
it was sold to the
Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, University of Texas.

The Sudan archive contains the papers of two key British figures in the Arab
Revolt, Sir Reginald Wingate and Sir Gilbert Clayton. These archives contain
reports, telegrams and other documents by and about Lawrence, from private and
official papers.

Lawrence served at Cranwell 1925-6, and presented the library with a proof copy
of the subscribers' Seven Pillars of Wisdom. The College has a small
collection of items relating to Lawrence, and has named a room in its library
after him
